DCAA Western Region Employees
-This is your Union
web page!
Updated 15
June 2008
Greetings from
your AFGE Local 1221. Know what is
at stake: AFGE is working to protect the rights of federal employees. AFGE is
working to develop bi-partisan alliances in Congress and fighting for a
pro-worker personnel system. We need to counter the forces that want to
strip away worker's rights with pay for performance schemes.
Current events:
Right now, DCAA's
AFGE Locals are formed on a Region by Region basis. We are the Western
Region. The big news is that a nation-wide council of DCAA AFGE locals has
been
formed, it is AFGE Council 162. This may give us the strength to get the Agency to negotiate
with us! Mark Kelly is our delegate to the council. Send us any or
your questions or concerns on this issue.
We need people to
set up local events (think after work 'happy-hour') and get people aware of the
Local. Let us know if you can volunteer for 1 or 2 hours a month for the
Local. You can make it fun!
Overstressed?
Working for free? Worried about your next evaluation? YOU are
welcome to help improve our fight for employee rights! This is the right
thing to do! Help yourself and your coworkers - become a dues paying
member.

DCAA management
cannot punish you for being a Union member. It's against the law.
You are already a member of our Collective Bargaining Unit.
But, if you don't want management to know you support your own organization by
payroll deduction, you can write a check to AFGE Local 1221 for the
annual dues (26x$13= $338). We stress that DCAA Western Region Management
has shown no sign of harassing Union members or discouraging union membership!
Some people are worried though... So, if you prefer, send your check for
$338 today! Build the membership. If we are dues-paying Union
members, we will have the strength to voice our concerns, participate in
decisions affecting our future, and fight inappropriate or unfair management initiatives!
NOTE: If you
hear your management say "We can't do that because of the Union" please send us
a quick email. We want to know about it!
